Last Christmas Uncle Ben gave Elijah a toy piano and he loves to bang on it, so it didn't come as a surprise that he would love playing grandpas BIG piano. He would have played it all day had I let him! Nathan and I aren't really musical (although I used to sing), so maybe just maybe our son will take after his great grandpa who was a singer (second from the left)...
his grandpa who plays the piano or his uncle Ben who is studying music at Loyola in New Orleans and is very gifted musically. I know I definitely want to encourage my children to play an instrument, something I wish I had done.
So Elijah has really perfected some of his moves in the last couple of weeks. He is pulling himself up,can actually get himself down now, is walking around all the furniture, and is a speedy crawler on his hands and knees (he rarely army crawls anymore). He can also move from object to object. In these pictures he was holding on to the ottoman and turning around to grab onto his little walker/push toy. He is a brave little one! I think he will be walking in no time. Yikes! :)
We got him this little walker to see if that might help him with his walking, but he doesn't get it. I think he thinks it is a jumperoo because he just bounces in it.
I think his food tastes much better if he wears it! :) And if you look closely...STILL NO TEETH!
Nathan got his at age 1, so he probably will too. I'm not complaining. Haven't had to deal with the whole teething issue yet! :)
I know, it has been a while since I have blogged. We have been super busy and just haven't really found the time to sit down and do it. So this blog may be a long one! :)
Our little family travelled back home to San Diego in May for some much needed rest, relaxation and fun! We spent the whole time relaxing at our hotel, by the pool and on the beach. We decided that we wouldn't spend this trip meeting up with people, but just spend some quality family time with each other. Our next trip will be just for seeing all our family and friends. :) We definitely missed seeing everyone, but it was nice not being busy running around.
When we arrived to San Diego the weather was perfect. Elijah and I didn't even mind waiting for Daddy while he went to get the rental car because the weather was perfect! Lets just say...we don't pack lite!
We stayed at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Loews is very kid friendly and Elijah enjoyed the fun toys they brought to our room!
As soon as we got settled we headed downstairs to relax and grab some food. Elijah enjoyed his first teething biscuit.
It is a lot different vacationing with a little one. We still tried to get him to sleep at his normal bed time which left us wondering what we would do while he is sleeping. We didn't want to go to sleep at 8:00 while on vacation, but we had to be quiet since he was asleep in the same room. So...we watched A LOT of movies! And there was no sleeping in on this vacation! Elijah was up bright and early every morning. So we would just make the most out of it, order some breakfast and enjoy the morning.
We spent a lot of time at the pool...
and on the beach. Elijah liked eating the sand and was fascinated by the seagulls.
We had a lovely breakfast in La Jolla
We went to the La Jolla Cove, one of our favorite spots and visited the seals. (We found out they want to turn the cove into a beach and they are trying to scare the seals with the sound of barking dogs. SO SAD!)
It was a great week and we were sad to go home!
On the plane going home, Elijah tried a new trick. Of course I missed capturing it on the camera. He held on to the armrest and stood up! He was so happy and proud of himself.
And he hasn't stopped standing up since we got home! We immediately had to lower his crib.
The only problem with him standing is he can't get back down! When I lay him down for a nap this is what ends up happening and I have to keep going in there to lay him back down. It's exhausting!
He is also on the move. I can't keep up with this little guy. So much for plugins!
And here is what my living room looks like these days...
Another big accomplishment: He FINALLY learned how to eat puffs himself. For whatever reason, Elijah decided it was better if mom and dad just put the puffs in his mouth for him. He would sit there with his mouth wide open waiting for us to insert a puff. He refused to put them in his mouth himself. Those days are over. I have a self-puff eating baby!
In other news...Nathan just had knee and ankle surgery. Uhhh.......poor guy! :( So I have the task of taking care of both of my boys. Elijah is keeping daddy good company!
